Product designers and deliverable-based consultants

Revision-limit clause template

Define a feedback round, included revisions, review timing, approvals, and the boundary between refinement and additional scope.

When to use it

Use this inside a design or deliverable-based agreement before the client begins reviewing work.

Template sections

  1. 1. Included revision rounds
  2. 2. Feedback process
  3. 3. What remains inside scope
  4. 4. What becomes additional scope
  5. 5. Approval
Understand revision limits

Replace every bracketed field before sending.

01

Included revision rounds

The fee includes [number] revision rounds for [named stage or deliverable]. A revision round means one consolidated set of written feedback submitted by [named client decision-maker] in response to the delivered stage.

02

Feedback process

The Client will provide consolidated feedback through [channel] within [number] business days of delivery. Conflicting or separate comments from multiple stakeholders must be resolved by the Client before submission. Delivery dates may move when feedback is late or incomplete.

03

What remains inside scope

A revision refines work within the approved brief and direction. Examples include [copy adjustment, hierarchy refinement, visual detail, or correction] where the request does not add a new deliverable or materially change the approved direction.

04

What becomes additional scope

Additional scope includes new screens, flows, platforms, audiences, research, deliverables, a return to an already approved direction, or work beyond the included rounds. Any request that changes cost or delivery time will be documented in a change order before work continues.

05

Approval

A stage is approved when [approval method]. Approval allows the next stage to begin. Reopening an approved stage may change the fee and delivery schedule and will be assessed as a change request.

Before you send it

Customize the commercial details.

  1. 01Apply the revision count to a named stage, not the whole project by implication.
  2. 02Name the client decision-maker and feedback channel.
  3. 03Give examples that match the actual deliverables.
  4. 04Choose an explicit approval method appropriate to the engagement.

Put the approved terms into the workflow

Keep the agreement, invoices, follow-up, and payment record connected.
