- Does a change order replace the original agreement?
- No. It should reference and amend the original agreement only for the changes it describes. Terms that are not changed remain in effect.
- When should a freelancer use a change order?
- Use one when a request materially changes deliverables, cost, delivery time, dependencies, or acceptance criteria. Small clarifications that remain inside the approved scope usually do not need one.
- Can a change order have its own invoice?
- Yes. Once the client approves the additional cost, that amount can be invoiced separately or added through clearly identified payment milestones.
